These cupcakes are not for kids. Black Forest Cake is traditionally made with Kirsch. Most often here, it is made with a non-alcoholic cordial, giving the cake its berry flavouring. But my enticing version is a cupcake soaked with cherry liqueur and topped with fresh cream. I can substitute the alcohol upon request if you don’t want it (baking generally will burn off alcohol in any food, but this alcohol is not baked out. It is sprinkled generously onto the cake AFTER it has been baked). Truly a luxuriant treat, and a must for those of you who love Black Forest.
